Hi,
I'm Shanna - pronounced Shauna
Modern motherhood asks too much and offers too little
Between feeding schedules, work demands, and the invisible weight of it all, rest can feel out of reach. That's why I created Resting Rituals to offer real, nourishing support to mothers in the early weeks after birth — through in-home care, calming cooking practices, and restorative postpartum rituals.
When I became a mother, I had a strong foundation in wellness.
I’d studied food science, trained in yoga and meditation, and built a life that was mindful and intentional. Even with all that knowledge and training, postpartum still knocked me.
I imagined long walks, family holidays, and blissful maternity leave. Instead, I was tired, overwhelmed, and often felt safer at home — but also deeply isolated. Breastfeeding in public in those early weeks felt impossible, naps ruled my days, and counting three hours from the last feed felt like advanced maths (my husband and I still laugh about that one).
My family did their best — the fridge was stocked with lasagne and pasta bake — but what I really needed in those first six weeks was someone to care for me. Someone who could nourish me with food that healed, hold space for my tears, and remind me that what I was feeling was normal.
and how different it felt from what we were doing here. I knew there had to be a better way.
I began diving deep into postpartum traditions, both scientific and ancestral. I blended my background in food science with my training in yoga and mindfulness. I studied postpartum care, read countless books on maternal health, and slowly began shaping a support system that feels whole.
Because in many traditional cultures, this kind of care has always existed. The mother is held, nourished, and protected as she heals.
That’s why I created Resting Rituals: to bring back the care mothers deserve. To blend science with ancient wisdom, food with ritual, and evidence with empathy. I help mothers feel nourished, calm, and supported in the early weeks — because when a mother is cared for, everything else begins to fall into place.

I’m here to transform how we experience postpartum — to rebuild the village, reclaim rest, and return this season to what it was always meant to be: sacred.
Resting Rituals was born to meet you where you are — tired, tender, transformed. I offer in-home care, nourishing food, and simple, restorative rituals designed to support your whole self: body, mind, and spirit.
This is not one-size-fits-all. It’s personal. Practical. Deeply nurturing. Whether it’s a warm broth on a hard day, a calm voice when your thoughts feel loud, or a quiet presence while you rest — I’m here to hold space for you.
Since launching, I’ve supported beautiful families in their most vulnerable moments, created a postpartum cookbook filled with real, easy nourishment, and developed offerings that help women feel held in every sense of the word.
